Departing Obama adviser John Podesta on UFOs and full disclosure

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore Ed,

Departing BHO senior adviser John Podesta recently reflected on his latest White House post Friday, listing the best moments and biggest regrets from the past year. His biggest regret: keeping the American people in the dark about UFOs.

At a 2002 press conference organized by the Coalition for Freedom of Information, Podesta spoke on the importance of Full Disclosure: “It’s time to find out what the truth really is that’s out there,”  he said. “We ought to do it, really, because it’s right. We ought to do it, quite frankly, because the American people can handle the truth. And we ought to do it because it’s the law.”

Alien Lore: Roswell Alien Photo Slides To Be Released: ‘Smoking Gun’ Evidence Of 1947 UFO Crash?

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore Ed.

"A team of UFO researchers announced at a livestreamed online press conference on Feb. 4 that it has obtained Kodachrome slide images that provide “smoking gun” evidence that aliens are real and that an alien UFO crash actually occurred in Roswell in 1947, despite government denial.
"According to Anthony Bragaliawho was involved in investigating and authenticating the purported photographic evidence, the slides represent “stunning visual evidence of a humanoid creature that was found crashed near Roswell.”

Alien Lore No. 260 — Jackie Gleason interviewed about UFO's and higher life forms

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore and UFO ed.

This is an interview between Jackie Gleason and a Jack (last name unknown), who was guess hosting Long John Neville's radio program November 16, 1958, on New York City's WOR.
Jackie Gleason was fascinated with aliens and UFOs.  Some people, including Jackie's wife, have claimed that he and President Richard Nixon once viewed the bodies of aliens from a UFO crash at a secret Air Force facility) (See our article Alien Lore No. 225 - Jackie Gleason's tale of President Dick Nixon and "The men from Mars"

Gleason: I got this letter unsolicited and it came from a group (8) of atomic scientists and physicists.
Jack: Could you name the scientist?
Gleason: I can't and let me tell you why I can't. They are still in government employ.
Jack: What does that mean?
Gleason: Well that means they're under security provisions
Jack: What do you mean security provisions if there's a flying saucer there's nothing there reviewing?
Gleason: We're supposed to believe the official dispensation from the Air Force. We're supposed to believe that he's flying saucers are a matter of great national concern then I love the same outfit tells us they don't exist. At the same time they tell us that they do come out of the security provisions and they have several regulations that forbid that forbid government and military from even talking about the.
Jack: But these aren't government officials? You can talk about it?
Gleason: Yes I can talk about it. I can't reveal the identity of these fellows . You know what I did with Willie Ley (rocket scientist) one night on a show called “The author meets the critic”. This was several years ago . Really with giving Donald Keyhoe and myself a hard time and I asked him if I could show him a letter and show him who signed it and where it came from and whether he would let me read one sentence which is all I was permitted to read publicly. I showed him the letterhead and his jaw dropped open. I showed him the signature and it dropped open a little more. And the sentence said quote after 6 years of studying the material in connection with these so called flying saucers we are of the unanimous opinion that these are interplanetary devices conceived and operated by intelligent beings of a very high order."
Jack: Now was that letter signed by very important men in the government?
Gleason: Yes It was signed by an important physicist.
Jack: Are these men that would have been in contact with the president?
Gleason: No no I wouldn't think so.
Jack: So then they weren't big personages?
Gleason: No they weren't top flight men but they were men who evidently had a lot of ability.
Jack: Were they connected with the government?
Gleason: Well they were connected with an atomic enterprise
Jack: But not with the government?
Gleason: Well I don't know but they were analyzing stuff for the government. I wouldn't say that they were actually career man or anything like that, no, but they were hired to do a job.
Jack: Why should then that be a surprise if some kind of scientists or men attached to the atomic research , a private research organization - why should his drop jaw drop open when they stay there are flying saucers?
Gleason: I think he was surprised at first when he recognized the scientist’s name and his standing.
Jack: That he was on the government team?
Gleason: Well he may have been . I don't know exactly what his relationship would have been except that I would be glad to show you the letter sometime. You could figure it out from there.

Project 1794/WS 606A, a/k/a The Avrocar: the U.S.-made UFO

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore/UFO Ed.

The Avrocar in storage at the Smithsonian Institution in 1984.

Project Project 1794/WS 606A, a/k/a The Avrocar, never really went anywhere or got past its early test phases.  In the end, it ended up being a hovercar proptotype.

The test models suffered from dangerous oil leaks that resulted in three fires, and eventually the staff were afraid of the machine, even when they were safely nestled in an observation booth of bullet-proof glass and quarter-inch-thick steel.   A final, and disastrous engine test in 1956 involved a Viper jet engine "running wild" and convinced the agencies involved that a less dangerous test vehicle was necessary.

A second Avrocar logged about 75 flight hours, but was also a failure; it couldn't lift itself safely more than a few feet off the ground, and its bulbous design  caused unbearable heat and screaming exhaust noise, which made it impractical for the military.  One person pointed out that, although it was a technical failure, its design was a rubber water skirt shy of being the world's first hovercraft

Alien Lore No. 252 - Google Doodle celebrates 66th Roswell Anniversary

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore Ed.

Google's doodle today commemorates the 66th anniversary of the Roswell UFO crash in 1947. Many UFOlogists believe Roswell was an alien landing outside the New Mexico town.that went wrong. The Google doodle allows users to control a small alien through a series of tasks in a Roswell-like desert.

Conspiracy folks believe that that US military captured a crashed alien aircraft a/k/a flying saucer  in July 1947.  The Air Force and others insisted that the incident merely involved the recovery of debris from a secret surveillance balloon.
A press release issued that day by a local US military base says that the crash involved a flying disk.  But the Army quickly changed their story.

In 1995, Ray Santilli in London claimed that he possessed film footage showing an autopsy being performed on one of the Roswell aliens. Santilli said later that the film was a reconstruction of what he insisted was real events.

Fifty years later (!) the US Air Force released 1997 231-page report--Case Closed: Final Report on the Roswell Crash--stating that the alien bodies witnesses reported seeing at the crash scene were actually life-sized crash test dummies.

Alien Lore No. 247 - The most popular file in the FBI's digital Vault is a memo about the Roswell UFO crash

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore Ed.

The FBI recently opened a digital reading room--The Vault--with thousands of documents on their most famous cases (you know, Bonnie and Clyde, John Dillinger, The Unabomber, the 9/11 conspirators, et cetera). The most downloaded document (by far)?  A 1950 memo about a UFO sighting.

The memo to J. Edgar Hoover is from from Guy Hottel, the special agent in charge of the Washington, D.C. field office.

The informant, whose whose name is redacted, said that saucers had been found in New Mexico because the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area that is believed to interfere with the guidance systems of the saucers.

The town of Roswell in New Mexico became infamous after reports that a flying saucer crashed in the desert near a military base there on or around July 2, 1947. The bodies of aliens were said to have been recovered and autopsied by the U.S. military.  American authorities allegedly covered the incident up.  We won't go into a lot of detail here, since this is one of the most well-documented UFO stories of all time.

Alien Lore No. 225 - Jackie Gleason's tale of President Dick Nixon and "The men from Mars"

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore & Paranormal Editor

On February 19,1973, according to White House records, President Richard Nixon met Jackie Gleason on the 18th green at the Inverness Golf and Country Club. He was there to help kick off a charity golf tournament founded by Gleason. If rumors are true, Nixon also came to Florida in 1973 to show Jackie Gleason the bodies of extraterrestrials (knowing, he too, believed there was something Out There).

True or not, it's a good story. . .Dick Nixon and The Great One driving in the dead of night, without Secret Service protection, to the cooler where they kept the recovered alien bodies.

Timothy Green Buckley said in an interview once: “I'm afraid I am a bit of a fence setter. All this could be real or none of it could be!” What follows is his strange and funny article from UFOs Among the Stars.

Mixing Richard Nixon, Jackie Gleason, conspiracy, and Aliens together, how can you really go wrong?

Jackie Gleason & The Little Men From Mars
by Timothy Green Beckley

Way back in the mid-1960s, I got a letter in the mail from Jackie Gleason Productions, Hollywood, Florida, ordering a copy of a mimeographed booklet I had put together relating to UFOs. This, to me, was confirmation of what I had heard rumors about for a long time ... that "the Great One" was personally involved in researching UFOs. Supposedly - and I've since found out that this is true--Gleason had one of the greatest UFO book collections in the world. This is where the tale gets a bit wilder. A story circulated by Gleason's ex-wife, Beverly, has Jackie actually viewing the bodies of several aliens who died when their craft crashed in the Southwest.

The story was carried originally in the National Enquirer, and though Beverly Gleason later confirmed it to members of the press who were able to track her down, independent confirmation of Gleason's supposed experience could - for the longest time - not be certified.

Now with the striking revelations of a young man who knew Gleason personally, it can safely be said that such an event did take place...

Larry Warren was an Airman First Class stationed at Bentwaters Air Force Base in England (a NATO installation staffed mainly by US. servicemen) when an incredible series of events took place over Christmas week of 1980. A UFO was picked up on radar and subsequently came down just outside the perimeter of the base in a dense forest.

On the first of several nights of confrontation with the Unknown, three security police ventured into the area across an eerie-looking object hovering just above the ground. One of the MPs was mesmerized by the UFO and was unable to move for nearly an hour. While in this mental state, he received some sort of telepathic message that the craft would return. For the next few nights, up to 80 U.S. servicemen, British bobbies, as well as civilians from some nearby farms, witnessed an historic event. According to Larry Warren, who stood within feet of this craft from another world-three occupants came out of the ship and actually communicated with a high ranking member of the U.S. Air Force.

This close encounter at Bentwaters has become the subject of several books (see "From Out Of The Blue", Jenny Randles, Inner Light Publications) and has been given wide publicity on CNN, Home Box Office and more recently "Unsolved Mysteries." Warren has, in a sense, become somewhat of a celebrity himself as he remains in the public eye, willing to talk about what he observed.

"Jackie Gleason was interested in hearing my story first hand," Warren offers as a means of explaining how he met the famous comic in May, 1986. "At the time I was living in Connecticut and both CNN and HBO had run pieces on the Bentwaters case. Through mutual friends who knew members of his family, I was told that Gleason would like to talk with me privately in his home in Westchester County, and so the meeting was set for a Saturday when we would both have some time to relax'".

After being formally introduced, the two men ventured into Gleason's recreation room complete with pool table and full-size bar. "There were hundreds of UFO books all over the place," Warren explains, "but Jackie was quick to tell me that this was only a tiny portion of his entire collection, which was housed in his home in Florida." For the rest of the day, UFO researcher and UFO witness exchanged information.

"Gleason seemed to be very well informed on the subject," Larry says, "as he knew the smallest detail about most cases and showed me copies of the book "Clear Intent" that had just been published, as well as a copy of "Sky Crash", a British book about Bentwaters that was published, actually, before all the details of this case were made public. I remember Gleason telling me about his own sightings of several discs in Florida and how he thought there were undersea UFOs bases out in the Bermuda Triangle."

But it wasn't till after Warren had downed a few beers and Gleason had had a number of drinks--"his favorite, Rob Roys"-that conversation really got down to brass tacks. "At some point, Gleason turned to me and said, 'I want to tell you something very amazing that will probably come out some day anyway. We've got em!' 'Got what', I wanted to know? 'Aliens!' Gleason sputtered, catching his breath."

According to Warren, Jackie proceeded to tell him the intriguing set of circumstances that led him to the stunning conclusion that extraterrestrials have arrived on our cosmic shores. "It was back when Nixon was in office that something truly amazing happened to me," Gleason explained. "We were close golfing buddies and had been out on the golf course all day when somewhere around the 15th hole, the subject of UFOs came up. Not many people know this," Gleason told Warren, "but the President shares my interest in this matter and has a large collection of books in his home on UFOs just like I do. For some reason, however, he never really took me into his confidence about what he personally knew to be true... one of the reasons being that he was usually surrounded by so many aids and advisers."

Later that night, matters changed radically, when Richard Nixon showed up at Gleason's house around midnight. "He was all alone for a change. There were no secret service agents with him or anyone else. I said, 'Mr. President, what are you doing here?' and he said he wanted to take me someplace and show me something." Gleason got into the President's private car and they sped off into the darkness--their destination being Homestead Air Force Base.

"I remember we got to the gate and this young MP came up to the car to look to see inside and his jaw seemed to drop a foot when he saw who was behind the wheel. He just sort of pointed and we headed off." Warren says that later Gleason found out that the secret service was going absolutely crazy trying to find out where Nixon was. "We drove to the very far end of the base in a segregated area," Gleason went on, "finally stopping near a well-guarded building. The security police saw us coming and just sort of moved back as we passed them and entered the structure.

There were a number of labs we passed through first before we entered a section where Nixon pointed out what he said was the wreckage from a flying saucer, enclosed in several large cases." Gleason noted his initial reaction was that this was all a joke brought on by their earlier conversation on the golf course. But it wasn't, as Gleason soon learned. "Next, we went into an inner chamber and there were six or eight of what looked like glass-topped Coke freezers. Inside them were the mangled remains of what I took to be children. Then - upon closer examination - I saw that some of the other figures looked quite old. Most of them were terribly mangled as if they had been in an accident."

According to Larry Warren's testimony (regarding Gleason's lengthy conversation about UFOs and space visitors), "I forget whether he said they had three or four fingers on each hand, but they definitely were not human...of this he was most certain!" For three weeks following his trip with Nixon to Homestead Air Force Base, the world famous entertainer couldn't sleep and couldn't eat. "Jackie told me that he was very traumatized by all of this.

He just couldn't understand why our government wouldn't tell the public all they knew about UFOs and space visitors. He said he even drank more heavily than usual until he could regain some of his composure and come back down to everyday reality." Larry Warren is convinced that Gleason wasn't lying to him. "You could tell that he was very sincere - he took the whole affair very seriously, and I could tell that he wanted to get the matter off his chest, and this was why he was telling me all of this." And as far as Larry Warren was concerned, the Great One's personal testimony only added extra credibility to his own first hand experience with aliens while he was in the service.

"Jackie felt just like I do that the government needs to 'come clean,' and tell us all it knows about space visitors. It time they stopped lying to the public and release all the evidence they have. When they do, then we'll all be able to see the same things the late Jackie Gleason did!" Hopefully this day may arrive soon.

Alien Lore No. 218 - Re: any kind of government UFO/alien cover-up, the White House says "nothing to see here folks; keep moving."

By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore Editor

The White House recently responded to two petitions asking the US government to acknowledge that aliens have visited Earth and to disclose to any withholding of government interactions with Aliens, of Greys.

5,387 people signed a petition asking for disclosure of any communications with aliens.

12,078 citizens signed a request for a formal acknowledgement from the White House that extraterrestrials have been engaging the human race.  "Hundreds of military and government agency witnesses have come forward with testimony confirming this extraterrestrial presence," the second petition states. "Opinion polls now indicate more than 50% of the American people believe there is an extraterrestrial presence and more than 80% believe the government is not telling the truth about this phenomenon. The people have a right to know. The people can handle the truth."

These petitions were generated by an Obama Administration initiative--‘We the People'--which requires White House staffers to respond to any issue that receives at least 25,000 online signatures. The White House promised to respond if the petitions got 17,000 more signatures by October 22nd.

The following is the Official White House Response to "formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race - Disclosure. and 1 other petition."

By Phil Larson, White House Office of Science & Technology Policy

"Thank you for signing the petition asking the Obama Administration to acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence here on Earth.

"The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public's eye.

"However, that doesn't mean the subject of life outside our planet isn't being discussed or explored. In fact, there are a number of projects working toward the goal of understanding if life can or does exist off Earth. Here are a few examples:

"SETI—the Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence—was originally stood up with help from NASA, but has since been moved to other sources of private funding. SETI's main purpose is to act as a giant ear on behalf of the human race, pointing an array of ground-based telescopes towards space to listen for any signal from another world.

"Kepler is a NASA spacecraft in orbit that's main goal is to search for Earth-like planets. Such a planet would be located in the "Goldilocks" zone of a distant solar system—not too hot and not too cold—and could potentially be habitable by life as we know it. The Kepler mission is specifically designed to survey our region of the Milky Way galaxy to discover Earth-sized, rocky planets in or near the habitable zone of the star (sun) they orbit.

"The Mars Science Laboratory, Curiosity, is an automobile-sized rover that NASA is launching soon. The rover's onboard laboratory will study rocks, soils, and other geology in an effort to detect the chemical building blocks of life (e.g., forms of carbon) on Mars and will assess what the Martian environment was like in the past to see if it could have harbored life.

"A last point: Many scientists and mathematicians have looked with a statistical mindset at the question of whether life likely exists beyond Earth and have come to the conclusion that the odds are pretty high that somewhere among the trillions and trillions of stars in the universe there is a planet other than ours that is home to life.

"Many have also noted, however, that the odds of us making contact with any of them—especially any intelligent ones—are extremely small, given the distances involved.

"But that's all statistics and speculation. The fact is we have no credible evidence of extraterrestrial presence here on Earth."

Alien Lore No. 211 - "neither the resources or the will..."

By Jack Brummet
Alien Lore/Paranormal Editor

The latest release of National Archives UFO files has just been made in the U.K.   Read in detail about the new files on the BBC website.

"The latest set of government files on UFOs released by the National Archives show that the Ministry of Defence had neither the resources nor the will to study thousands of sightings reported to them over decades," writes Sanchia Berg.

According to Dr. David Clarke, "In what I believe to be the most important revelation so far, an intelligence officer reveals that 'lack of funds and higher priorities' had prevented any detailed study of the thousands of reports they had received since the end of World War II. "

All This Is That Reheated: from six years ago, "The Skeleton On The Moon"

This article first appeared on ATIT over six years ago.  It is the number ten most downloaded and visited article on this blog (out of 4,700 articles so far).

By Jack Brummet
Extraterrestrial Affairs Editor

This source for this post is an article from MUFON's (the Mutual UFO Network) web site. The authorship--like much of UFOlogy is murky. In any case, it is amusing. You have to admit, it would be a little spooky to find footsteps and bodies on the moon.  And wearing jeans!

America'a Apollo 11 lunar module photographed a human skeleton on the moon when it landed there in 1969.

That's the claim of Chinese astrophysicist Dr. Kang Mao-pang,who first floored the world when he released pictures of bare human footprints on the moon at a news conference in Beijing last winter. The scientist claimed to have received those photos --- which were so secret the Apollo 11 astronauts didn't even know they existed -- from "an unimpeachable U.S. source."

The photograph of the human skeleton was included with a second batch of photos and documents he received from the same source. "The Americans have conspired in a cover-up of monumental and possibly even criminal proportions," Dr. Kang told newsmen in Beijing. "They hid photos of bare human footprints on the moon for 20 years and managed to keep the human skeleton secret even longer. The implications of what they found up there are staggering," he continued. "But the Americans apparently feel that nobody else in the world is privileged enough to share the information."

The story goes that Dr. Kang's allegations stunned U.S. space and intelligence experts, one of whom went into hiding after reporters tried to question him in a Washington, D.C., restaurant. Other sources also allegedly refused to comment--even when told that the Chinese expert has copies of over 1,000 NASA photographs that clearly show bare human footprints and a human skeleton on the lunar surface.

Intriguingly, the skeleton appears to have been wearing jeans. Judging from the position of the bones, it seems likely that the person it belonged to was at least partially dismembered and met with a violent death. It is also probable that the skeleton was transported into space long after the person was killed. The decomposition of bone and flesh would not have been possible in the airless atmosphere of the moon. The Chinese expert further noted that the age of the skeleton cannot be estimated without analyzing the bone firsthand.

"Like the footprints on the moon, these photos were taken by a remote camera aboard the lunar lander and were given to me by an American source who is beyond reproach," said Dr. Kang. "I am also in the possession of classified documents and letters that describe the footprints as being fresh and the skeleton unquestionably human. The question that must be answered is how the footprints and skeleton go to the moon. The obvious implication is that extraterrestrial lifeforms were involved but we'll never know unless the Americans release the information they have."

The documents Dr. Kang quoted from are stamped "top secret" and dated Aug. 3, 1969, which means they were written just two weeks after astronauts Neal Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed and walked on the moon--in boots, not barefoot--on July 20, 1969. Large portions of the text have been redacted in black ink. It's clear that U.S experts agreed extraterrestrials had something to do with the bare footprints and skeleton on the moon.

Repeated attempts to get officials at any level of government to address Dr. Kang's report were unsuccessful. Explained a Washington source: "Nobody's going to say anything until President Bush gives the go-ahead. This isn't any ordinary cover-up. It makesWatergate look like a Sunday School picnic. It's that damn big."

Jack Note:  As wonderful as the story is, it has unfortunately been traced back to the July 15, 1997 issue of  none other than the Weekly World News...

Alien Lore No. 209 - The Greatest Story Ever Denied

By Jack Brummet
Paranormal Editor
UFO - Greatest Story Ever Denied is an hour and a half long rundown of some of the most interesting and provocative Grey/UFO events following the Roswell crash in 1946.   One focus is the "Battle of LA," in which government forces fired upon which they thought was a UFO, but later claimed was a weather balloon. The film includes amazing photographs of Klieg lights trained on UFOs in the skies above LA and a radio broadcast describing the 1,500 rounds that were shot at the unidentified craft -- without hitting a single one! The documentary also covers some of the early military "cover-ups," and information about UFOs that researchers claim are invisible and can only be seem with infrared cameras.

"The nations of this world will have to unite for the next war will be an interplanetary war. The nations of the Earth must some day make a common front against attack by people from other planets." -- General Douglas MacArthur October 8, 1955

I try to avoid reading the comments on YouTube--generally you feel like you need a bath after reading them.  In this case, I did enjoy one commenter who suggests that the reason there has been no public acknowledgement of UFOs and Greys is that the Greys signed a mutual non-disclosure agreement with the "nations of earth."

"To me, the most compelling reason why UFOs have never been publicly acknowledged is that there must be a non-disclosure agreement between the ETs and the nations of the earth. When a nation asks "Why should we agree to not disclose your existence?" the reply might have been, "Remember the Tunguska Event?" "Yes." "We can do that on a much more massive scale. It's up to you."

"Fear is a powerful motivator."

Paranormal aficionados,  UFOlogists and even, once in a blue moon, a scholar or professor, make wild and fairly contradictory assertions about just exactly what The Greys are--machines?, Extraterrestrial Biological Entities/ETs?, extradimensionals?, monsters?, or maybe even the mind-effing ability of a far greater intelligence to project virtual Greys into our world?   The focus of Alien Lore took a sharp turn with stories of the Betty and Barney Hill abduction claim and the role of The Greys in that.

Greys are usually depicted as short, grey-skinned beings with only a suggestion of, or completely missing, noses, ears, breasts, or sexual organs.  The are small chested, and have no  muscular definition or visible skeletal structure. Their legs are shorter and jointed differently those of homo sapiens. Their humerus and thigh bones are the same lengths as their forearms and shins, respectively.

According to Wikipedia, "Among reports of supposed alien encounters, Greys make up approximately 50 percent in Australia, 43 percent in the United States, 90 percent in Canada, 67 percent in Brazil, 20 percent in Continental Europe, and around 12 percent in Great Britain."

H.G. Wells wrote in Man of the Year Million in the 19th century about tiny Greys with big heads. His 1901 novel, The First Men in the Moon describes moon natives as grey skinned, big headed, with large black eyes and wasp wings (very similar to our contemporary Greys without the wings). Wells also describes aliens resembling Greys brought down to Earth as food by the antagonists of his novel, and most enduring work, The War of the Worlds.

Betty and Barney Hill, claimed to have been abducted by alien beings and taken to a saucer-shaped spaceship in 1961. And this is where Zeta Reticuli enters alien lore.  The term "Greys" did not come into usage until many years later, but the beings described by the Hills fit many of the common traits of what we now call Greys.  An elementary school teacher and amateur astronomer, Marjorie Fish, concluded that the home planet of these beings as shown in a star map drawn by Betty Hill, was located in the Zeta Reticuli star system (their home planet is thought to be the fourth planet of the second star of Reticulum). The Greys became known in alien lore as Zeta Reticulans.  During the 1990s, popular culture began to increasingly link the ZR Greys to a dizzying number of military-industrial complex/New World Order conspiracy theories.

A well known example of this was the TV series The X-Files, that combined the quest to find proof of the existence of The Greys with UFO conspiracy theory subplots, to form its story arc. Other notable examples include the great and short-lived series, Dark Skies, first broadcast in 1996, which expanded upon the Majestic 12 conspiracy.

Dr. Steven Greer, founder of the Disclosure Project, head of CSETI, and a prominent UFO conspiracy theorist, has publicly presented over 400 "government, military, and intelligence community witnesses" that have offered testimony to the existence of aliens and UFO and/or efforts to cover up their existence and who have stated that they would be willing to defend their claims under oath.

Alas, the odds are stacked against anyone even being able to study whether all this is true or not... Stanton Friedman considers the general attitude of mainstream academics as arrogant and dismissive, and bound to a world view that disallows any evidence contrary to previously held notions.

Ridicule and a loss of status prevents scientists from pursuing the study UFOs.  J. Allen Hynek
commented, "Ridicule is not part of the scientific method and people should not be taught that it is." Hynek said of the frequent dismissal of UFO reports by astronomers that the critics know nothing about the sightings, and should thus not be taken seriously. Peter A. Sturrock suggests that a lack of funding is a major factor in the institutional disinterest in UFOs.
