Damaged Slide

A damaged slide of Jack by Keelin Curran,
"restoration (scraping some strange goo off the slide)"/digitization by Jack Brummet

Keelin took the shot, and it sat in a box for decades. I don't know how it got damaged (none of the others were), but it's pretty cool. I don't know if they still have these cars on Amtrak--it's like an observation car with a big round dome on top...

Poem: The Night She Was Born

The Night She Was Born
by Jack Brummet

It was as quiet as a painting in Berkeley,
driving at three a.m. on Telegraph Avenue
toward Oakland, and the delivery room.
I saw a new moon hung on our old sky.
We watched the monitor and waited.
When her robber-stockinged face came down,
one bleat to the rafters started us all breathing again.

Del Brummet on Mt. Si

Del and Keelin took a hike on Mt. Si yesterday.   This is Del, near the top.  Mt. Si is what remains of a volcano.  According to The Wikipedia, "The 4-mile (6.4 km) long Mount Si trail climbs a total of 3,500 feet (1,100 m) reach to the summit ridge. The summit of Mount Si can then be reached by an exposed scramble, class 3, up the summit block which is known as the "Haystack"

From The Archives: The NYC Slides, Part 2

By Jack Brummet
Chief Archivist

A couple of months ago, I began scanning a box of slides we have from the years 1973 to around 1983. I posted them on Facebook because many of the surviving subjects/participants are on there. I always intended to also put them on All This Is That. And, now, I am finally getting around to it. This new batch is from the years we lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn (1977-1982). Coming next, Bellingham, Seattle, and Europe.

Travel Pals - 2+ weeks traveling with Keelin, Claire, and Colin - pictures of us on the road

What a great bunch these three were to travel with. We had a great time, and saw far more, and met more people than we ever hoped for. I will write more soon. . .I've just arrived home after a 28 hour road trip, and two long long flights from Bombay to Seoul, Korea and four hours later Seoul to Seattle.

Anyhow, thank you Claire, Colin, and Keelin. Click all pictures to enlarge...
