Donald Trump takes credit for Obama birth certificate release and immediately demands his college grades

By Jack Brummet,
Unexplained Phenomena Editor

This is a quick follow up to Pablo Fanque's post this morning on the birth certificate release and Obama press conference (read it here:  "We do not have time for this kind of silliness": President Obama releases long form birth certificate, Donald Trump takes credit).

Trump, on the stump in New Hampshire, told reporters this morning--after taking credit for the release of President Obama's birth certificate (“Today, I’m very proud of myself because I accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish")--that BHO should now also release his college transcripts!

“The word is, according to what I’ve read, that he was a terrible student when he went to Occidental,” Trump told reporters covering him. “He then gets to Columbia; he then gets to Harvard. … How do you get into Harvard if you're not a good student? Now, maybe that’s right, or maybe it’s wrong. But I don’t know why he doesn’t release his records.”

“Everyone says he was this great student. Well, if he was, that’s great, and if he wasn’t, that’s great,” he said.

"We do not have time for this kind of silliness": President Obama releases long form birth certificate, Donald Trump takes credit

By Pablo Fanque
National Affairs Editor

The White House released President Obama's long-form birth certificate to the press this morning, and a somewhat pissed-off/frustrated/exasperated President took some time to speak to the assembled pack of reporters.

This may well cool the jets of the press who have joyfully kept fanning the flames of this story.  But, alas, I don't think it will slow down the Birther-Republican-Tea Party.  Yes, most elected officials will drop it now, but the wingnuts will never be happy until BHO is out of office, one way or the other.

It will be interesting to see how Donald Trump handles this new evidence, and whether or not he will keep beating the dead horse (see illustration at the end of this article).  Our money is on The Donald not standing down, and in fact, we think this will lead to him cranking up his flimsy act.  For the moment, he is taking the high road, telling reporters:

“I am really honored, frankly, to have played such a big role in hopefully getting rid of this issue.” - Donald Trump in New Hampshire this morning

Transcipt of Obama Press Conference:

Hello, everybody. Now let me just comment, first of all, on the fact that I can't get the networks to break in on all kinds of other discussions. I was just back there listening to Chuck. He was saying, "It's amazing that he's not going to be talking about national security."

I would not have the networks breaking in if I was talking about that, Chuck, and you know it.

As many of you have been briefed, we provided additional information today about the site of my birth.

Now, this issue has been going on for two, two and a half years now. I think it started during the campaign. And I have to say that over the last two and a half years I have watched with bemusement, I have been puzzled at the degree to which this thing just kept on going.

We've had every official in Hawaii, Democrat and Republican, every news outlet that has investigated this confirm that, yes, in fact, I was born in Hawaii August 4th, 1961, in Kapiolani Hospital. We've posted the certification that is given by the state of Hawaii on the Internet for everybody to see. People have provided affidavits that they, in fact, have seen this birth certificate.

And yet this thing just keeps on going.

Now, normally, I would not comment on something like this, because, obviously, there's a lot of stuff swirling in the press at any given day and I've got other things to do.

But two weeks ago, when the Republican House had put forward a budget that will have huge consequences potentially to the country, and when I gave a speech about my budget and how I felt that we needed to invest in education and infrastructure and making sure that we had a strong safety net for our seniors even as we were closing the deficit, during that entire week, the dominant news story wasn't about these huge, monumental choices that we're going to have to make as a nation, it was about my birth certificate. And that was true on most of the news outlets that were represented here.

And so I just want to make a larger point here. We've got some enormous challenges out there. There are a lot of folks out there who are still looking for work. Everybody is still suffering under high gas prices. We're going to have to make a series of very difficult decisions about how we invest in our future, but also get a hold of our deficit and our debt -- how do we do that in a balanced way.

And this is going to generate huge and serious debates, important debates. And there are going to be some fierce disagreements. And that's good; that's how democracy is supposed to work.

And I'm confident that the American people and America's political leaders can come together in a bipartisan way and solve these problems. We always have.

But we're not going to be able to do it if we are distracted. We're not going to be able to do it if we spend time vilifying each other.

We're not going to be able to do it if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts. We're not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.

We live in a serious time right now, and we have the potential to deal with the issues that we confront in a way that will make our kids and our grandkids and our great grandkids proud. And I have every confidence that America in the 21st century is going to be able to come out on top just like we always have. But we're going to have to get serious to do it.

Now, I know that there's going to be a segment of people for which, no matter what we put out, this issue will not be put to rest. But I'm speaking to the vast majority of the American people, as well as to the press.

We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We've got better stuff to do. I've got better stuff to do. We got big problems to solve, and I'm confident we can solve them, but we're going to have to focus on them, not on this.

Thanks very much, everybody.

"Trying to convince birthers that Obama is a legitimate citizen. . ."

"Trying to convince birthers that Obama is a legitimate citizen rather than a closet jihadist is like trying to convince a terrified child that there’s no monster under the bed."  - Kathleen Parker, in a NY Times editorial.

The Vera Baker story rapidly fades away

By Pablo Fanque
National Affairs Editor

The "investigation about an alleged rumor," as Mark Ambinder of The Atlantic quoted Slate's John Dickerson, appears to have hit a dead end, and the story and rumors are rapidly running out of gas, despite the semi-respectable Enquirer's efforts to keep the story alive.  It appears that the birthers and teabagger/tea partiers are trying to keep the story alive, but the absence of even a shred of evidence makes that rather difficult.

The Drudge Report moved the story toward the middle of the page last night, and today, pushed it off their main page entirely.  A story too flimsy for Matt Drudge?  Doesn't that pretty much tell you all you need to know?   If it's too flimsy for Drudge, you can bet you can't even blow your nose with this one.

President Barack Obama Is A Muslim?

By Pablo Fanque
All This Is That Nati0nal Affairs Editor

This was interesting, and spooky.

If you read All This Is That regularly, you probably know I like a fight, and like to take on The President. He has made mistakes, and I find it good sport to call him out on them, although many of my left-wing/progressive brethren believe one should never be [publicly] critical of Barack Obama (although many of them merrily vilified and demonized BHO's predecessor). As irritated as I get with Barack Obama, and All The Presidents Men And Women, I know he is a decent, passionate, eloquent, and driven man who means right, and is usually, right. But, as the poet John Berryman once wrote:

Between what we see
And what we be
Is blinds.
Them blinds is on fire.

So today I received an email from Paul Jones. I was interested, initially, since I am half Jones...but believe me, you don't get far going down the Jones road...there's a couple million of them, and probably many more millions like me, with a large volume of Jones blood. OK, I've already digressed and redigressed.

Paul Jones wrote after somehow landing on this blog. And because I took some exception to something BHO did or said, he sensed a kindred spirit and sent along an old internet warhorse, proving that Barack Obama is a Muslim, and doesn't even have a birth certificate, or, at least, one he will show in public.

Really? I wondered if I need to become a mindless cheerleader for BHO. Is this what people think? Sorry, my cousin Paul Jones. I do not believe anything you passed along in your email. It has been often debunked as right-wing hokum. Snopes.com has a step by step refutation of every contention in this cheesy smear-piece.

It is really hard to fathom how these emails and hit pieces are still making the rounds. Or that millions of people still secretly and openly believe the charges of "The Birthers."

You've probably read this before:

"If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it.

Who is Barack Obama?

Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii.

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school." Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

Barack Obama served as an Illinois state senator for several years, and in 2004 he won a seat representing that state in the U.S. Senate. His keynote address before the Democratic National Convention in June 2004 brought him national prominence, and he is currently one of the leading contenders for the nomination to represent the Democratic Party in the 2008 presidential election. He is a dangerous, camouflaged radical Muslim.
