A Dean Ericksen retrospective

Since I joined the staff, I have read through the entire All This Is That Archives and noticed dozens of images of Dean Ericksen.  Many are unattributed, but most appear to be the photography and Photoshop work of Pablo Fanque and Jack Brummet.  Here are some of my favorites:

An Incredible Globe

This Wikipedia "featured picture" is a 360-degree spherical panorama of a beach in Marigot, Saint Martin, using nine images in a stereographic projection to create a globe. The assemblage shows the "little planet" effect, where the area close to the point opposite to the center of projection becomes significantly enlarged. A detailed explanation of how it is done can be found here.

The original image resides here on Flickr and was created in 2007 by Alexandre Duret-Lutz.

Face fun with Pizap

piZap.com is an image editing site with a really clean U.I. (although neophytes might not get that to discard a change you merely need to drag it offscreen). This transformation took couple of minutes. They did a great job of blending most of the parts...
