The Poetry Of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Part 3::::::That's Life
On NATO
You may think it's something
I ought to know,
But I happen not to.
That's life.

On Reporters
If you do something,
Somebody's not going
To agree with it.
That's life.

(Feb. 19, 2003)
On The Budget [1]
If you do anything,
Someone's not going
To like it and
That's life.

[1] May 7, 2002. Yes, he did say nearly the identical
thing a year later, about reporters.
On Leaks
Look bumpy? Sure.
But you pick up
And go on.
That's life.

On Democracy
People elected
Those people to office.
That's what they think, and
That's life.

(Feb. 20, 2003)
On People
They're going to have
Some impact on
What happens in that country
And that's not wrong.
That's life.

(Nov. 16, 2001)
On Criticism
It makes it complicated.
Sometimes, it makes
It difficult.
That's life.

The guy is a real piece of work. All this nattering makes you think he's kind of a nice guy. He's not.
ReplyDeleteThat's life.
One day he's gonna come out and say
ReplyDelete"That's Life.
That's what all the people say.
You're ride'n high in April,
shot down in May.
But I won't let it,
let it get me down.
Cause this fine old world,
it keeps spinnin round."
At that moment you will hear a slight sound, almost like someone rolling around in a wooden box.
Did he really give someone the finger?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so! It looks like a photoshop job. Hey--I figure he may not have given the finger per se, but he was thinking it!
