Poem: Failure

Failure
By Jack Brummet

I try over and over to slap the stink-eye
On those who trespass
Against me.

I stand in the yard at midnight,
Sending invites to the greys.
They keep right on moving.

I sit in meetings,
Trying to hypnotize
The speaker droning

On about something
That won't really matter.
I focus every electron of thought

On my perceived enemies,
And they always wake up.
Either telepathy fails me

Or I fail telepathy,
With a brain
That refuses to transmit.
