Poem: The color of water

 By Jack Brummet

Water comes in many colors
Because of the items suspended
In the water.

Water absorbs red and green
And reflects back the blue
When the water is pure.

Puget Sound is green
Because the water is alive
With thousands of critters.

The Aegean is blue
Because it's not so alive.
Now you're thinking "this is hokum,"

"What about this glass of water
In my hand?
It is crystal-clear and it sparkles."

But if you made that glass
Of water as large
As the Empire State Building,

It would be dark blue.
If you don't believe me,
Try it.
