Middle finger of the day: a finger for President Milos Zeman of The Czech Republic

Another irregular appearing "finger of the day": Czech artist David Cerny is sending a message to President Milos Zeman by floating a giant purple middle finger on the Vltava River pointed directly at Prague Castle. The BBC:
"Cerny has shocked and mocked politicians and public figures in the past, says the BBC’s Rob Cameron."
"This latest piece is clearly his message to the leftist President Zeman and the political party recently set up by his supporters."
"Cerny himself declined to say too much about the piece, telling reporters the gesture spoke for itself - what mattered, he said, was which way it was pointing."

Middle finger of the year (and the usual monthly roundup)

Here is our usual roundup of reader-submitted middle fingers, both celebrities and just regular folk like us. This first one, however, has to be our finger of the year (I can't remember if it was sent in by reader Jeff C or Dean E).

Here is our usual roundup of reader-submitted middle fingers, both celebrities and just regular folk like us. This first one, however, has to be our finger of the year (I can't remember if it was sent in by reader Jeff C or Dean E).
But, then, a close runner-up has to be the middle finger given by former representative Anthony Weiner following his concession speech in the NYC Mayoral election primary. His parting shot to the press was to flip them off as he was driven away into much-deserved obscurity.

Anthony Weiner gives the finger to reporters after delivering his concession speech. Election night was a mess for Weiner, like much of his campaign. Sydney Leathers, the woman at the center of the sexting scandal that began the unraveling of his mayoral campaign, showed up outside the election party in what she admitted was a play for media attention (and a boost to her fledgling career in the adult film industry). Between her and the media/paparazzi, it was a zoo.
CNN: "When the candidate finally showed just before 11 p.m., he quickly bolted into a next door McDonald's restaurant. The press corps and Leathers gave chase – yes, this really happened – security pulled a blocking maneuver as Weiner ducked through a door that connected Connolly's and the Mickey D's."
He gave his concession speech, and then, the former congressman got in his car, flipped off the press, and drove away into obscurity.
