Obama's Dirty Secret, Part 2

Earlier this week (Obama's Dirty Secret), we talked about the Obama skeleton-in-the-closet rumor allegedly floated by the Clinton campaign. In New Hampshire yesterday, Presidential hopeful Senator Obama told high school students that when he was their age he was experimenting with illegal drugs and drinking alcohol. Admittedly, he wasn't encouraging the kids to follow in his footsteps ("what the hell you doin' sitting in here on a sunny day like this!? When I was your age...").

Obama stopped by a study hall at Manchester Central High School and answered students' questions about the war in Iraq and his education plan.

An adult asked about his time as a student, and Obama said: "I will confess to you that I was kind of a goof-off in high school as my mom reminded me," said the Senator. "You know, I made some bad decisions that I've actually written about. You know, got into drinking. I experimented with drugs," he said.

While Obama has discussed this before, you have to wonder if he wasn't prompted to bring it up one more time after the rumors the Clinton campaign may or may not have floated.

The real news today is that GW and Laura affirm Hillary's candidacy with Laura especially chiming in on the extraordinary demands on the First Lady "You certainly know what it's like," Mrs. Bush said, "you know the pressure, there is, you know the difficulties."

I don't think Barack will contest on that score but he astutely wondered over her record on economic policy "she wasn't Sec'y of Treasury in the Clinton administration".

Are you "hot for schoolmarm"?

Vilsack: "There is no question she [Hillary] was the face of the administration in foreign affairs,"

Most respond "Oh, really?"

Now that is some agile campaign machine.

The Vilsack comment is hilarious. Hillary most decidedly stepped back from foreign affairs--I don't even remember her taking as many solo trips offshore as Laura Bush has (you know, looking so winsome in her chador).

And Obama's team is looking pretty sharp this week. Here' Bill Burton on the GW/Laura gush over Hillary

"I can't tell if he's endorsing her, hoping she's the nominee or thanking her for her votes on Iraq and Iran."

Do you think she liked getting smooched by that pooch?
