Poem: Tetuan

By Jack Brummet

1
The moon's in tune,
Stars turn on
And clouds drape themselves
Around corners of sky.

2
A terra cotta sebsi sizzles
With Rif Mountain leaf.
The muzzein and night prayers
Buzz in the mosque.

3
Fog drifts into the room.
His anxious heart echoes
The drumbeats from the medina
As his brain unfolds.

4
A circle of swallows
Spins outside the window.
The air thickens with fiction
And sorcery.
