ATIT Reheated (2008): Pablo Fanque's notorious interview with Sen. John McCain

By Pablo Fanque, National Affairs Editor

In an interview today with All This Is That's national affairs editor, Pablo Fanque, Senator John McCain at first mocked the New York Times recent revelations about a possible relationship he had had with the lobbyist Vicki Iseman.

Fanque: So is there any whiff of truth to the story?

Sen. McCain: Sure, I guess there's a whiff of truth. She is a woman, and a good looking woman. It's more convenient to pin her on me than it would be a male lobbyist. That's for sure. Every person on the hill deals with lobbyists.

Fanque: But the New York Times also alludes to something deeper than a drink with a lobbyist.

Sen. McCain: Sure they do. Have you read the 'paper lately? They allude to a lot of things. And the Times has a stake in getting their boy Obama elected. They shredded Hillary Clinton, and now they're coming after me.

Fanque: But that still doesn't really answer the question.

Sen. McCain: But isn't this interview supposed to be about how I would support the arts after I'm elected?

Fanque: It is, indeed. But this seems a little more important.

Sen. McCain: Than what?! This is a f***ing sideshow you're running here. Let's talk about The Issues.

Fanque: We are. This has become the issue.

Sen. McCain: Look. I've become a threat to the Democrats and to the New York Times. So you drag up a ten-year-old story and start flogging it. It's not relevant to the campaign.

Fanque: So just what WAS your relationship with Ms. Iseman?

Sen. McCain: I think I explained that. Several times this week.

Fanque: But the New York Times and some of your staffers seem to think otherwise.

Sen. McCain: You're talking about Pravda here. A paper that is ashamed of the United States. And some traitor staff members who will be rapidly disposed of. Pardon me for ending that sentence with a preposition.

Fanque: But Senator, you've explained that you did some business with a lobbyist. Now, it seems, you need to explain the accusations that have been lodged against you about having a romantic relationship with Ms.Iseman.

Sen. McCain: Really. OK. I drilled Vicki Iseman. So what? Do I get the same pass you gave Slick Willy? Do I get the same pass you've been giving Obama and Hillary?

Fanque: Pass? I don't recall hearing these sorts of allegations against them?

Sen. McCain: Then you have your head in the sand. Because it's all out there. This interview is over.

Five things Paul Manafort revealed about Donald Trump yesterday

By Jack Brummet, National Affairs Ed.

Some crazy insane absurd things Paul Manafort (Donald Trump's campaign manager and chief strategist) said about Donald Trump yesterday in an interview with Howard Fineman (formerly Newsweek, now HuffPo):

The vice presidential pick will be part of the process of proving he’s ready for the White House, Manafort said. “He needs an experienced person to do the part of the job he doesn’t want to do. He seems himself more as the chairman of the board, than even the CEO, let alone the COO.”

Choosing a woman or a member of a minority group to run as vice president, Manafort said, “would be viewed as pandering, I think.”

We shouldn’t expect to ever see Trump’s tax returns.

Trump will be elected president easily. “This is not a hard race,” Manafort said.

“Does he know enough? Yes, because he knows he has more to learn.”

JebBush.com redirects to Donald Trump's official website

By Mona Goldwater, Errors & Omissions Ed.

At some point along the road to the White House, Jeb Bush's team forgot to renew the domain jebbush.com.  While their official site is JebBush2016.com, clicking on jebbush.com now takes you to Donald Trump's page. . .which Trump recently and gleefully announced. This typifies the sad arc and ending of a bumbling campaign.

George F. Will wrote in August "Republican field is the most impressive since 1980"

By Jack Brummet, National Affairs Ed.

George F. Will wrote last August that, “This year’s Republican field is the most impressive since 1980, and perhaps the most talent-rich since the party first had a presidential nominee, in 1856."

Lindsay Graham drops out of Presidential contest - a voice of sanity silenced

By Jack Brummet, Tea-Party/GOP Ed.

It does matter that Senator Graham is dropping out. At times, as hard as it is to believe, Sen. Graham was actually a voice of sanity in the GOP-Tea Party.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out earlier today,

"Keep in mind, Senate Republicans have, by and large, stayed on the sidelines in the GOP presidential race. Of the 54 Republican senators in the chamber, only 11 have made endorsements (one, John McCain, backed Graham, which actually brings the overall total down to 10 as of this morning). "The chatter on Capitol Hill has been that much of the conference has held back largely out of deference towards Graham, whom they’ve worked alongside for many years. The thinking has been simple: once Graham quits, senators can start intervening in earnest, without fear of hurting their friend’s feelings."

"Hang The President," proclaims the Tea-Republican Party once again

By Pablo Fanque, National Affairs Ed.

I'm sure demonstrations--and words--like this damage the Tea-Republican party far more than they engender support for their "cause." And yet, it's just depressing to still be hearing this so many years later.

Republicans now admit there was, and is, no "Benghazi Scandal."

By Pablo Fanque, National Affairs Ed.

The Republican dominated investigating committee, with far less fanfare and publicity than the previous attacks on the Obama Administration over the Benghazi attacks, has decided "never mind."
"Intelligence and military officials responded appropriately during the terrorist attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, a House committee concluded in a report released Friday evening.
"The report by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence also found no cover-ups and no deliberate misconduct by Obama administration officials following the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks.
"Nor were there intelligence failures before the attacks on the State Department’s temporary mission in Benghazi and the nearby CIA annex, the previously secret 36-page investigative report says."
