Marriage banns in Mexico
By Jack Brummet, Mexico Travel Ed.
I don't remember seeing these before in Mexico, but in the state of Baja California Sur, the Catholic Church still publishes marriage banns. These were posted in the lobby of a church in Todos Santos. The banns more or less replace a marriage license and allow anyone to object to a wedding prior to its occurrence. Most priests--in an article on banns I read--say they cannot recall anyone ever objecting.

Vikingo Video in Todos Santos
By Jack Brummet, North American Travel Ed.
At Vikingo Video, three guys play rock non-stop. They have, at most, a couple hundred DVDs in the tiny store. I don't know how you'd rent a video, since they never stop playing and to browse you need to step over amps, cables, and cymbal stands. Maybe you wait for a set break.
What they might lack in chops, they more than make up for with enthusiasm and quantity. I love these guys.

the beach near our house is miles long and rarely has more than two or three people on it
