The Moscow Kalashnikov statue

The Moscow statue of Mikhail Kalashnikov was unveiled a few months ago. Wikipedia:

Even though Kalashnikov felt sorrow at the weapons' uncontrolled distribution, he took pride in his inventions and in their reputation for reliability, emphasizing that his rifle is "a weapon of defense" and "not a weapon for offense".

Louise Bourgeois's Mamon sculpture

Maman (mother in French) is a thirty foot high sculpture by the artist Louise Bourgeois. She was 87 when she created it in 1998. I saw the original at the Tate Modern in London, and there are six bronze castings in other locations around the world, including one in Bentonville, Ark., home of WalMart.
