Alien Lore No. 26: Abductions

Abductees report strange medical procedures being carried out on them during their experiences. Of course, there is plenty of genital probing and sex during these sessions as well.

Perhaps the strangest reports are about implant procedures. Just why the aliens feel like to to stick things into people is at best, perplexing. The real purpose of the implants is unknown. . .although UFO lore and studies have come up with plenty of possibilities.

Popular locations for implants are in the:

* Brain
* Nose
* Ears
* Hands
* Feet
* Shoulders
* Eyes

The exact purpose of these implants is unknown, and opinions vary widely. Remote tracking and monitoring of abductees is the most popular explaination. Like the ganglion inserted in abductees in the television series Dark Skies, many have asserted that the implants themselves can influence the behavior of those afflicted. In short it may be some sort of transmitter or remote behavioral modification device. Abductees reports of a myriad of types and locations of these implants, or probes, would suggest that they are multipurpose devices.

Unfortunately few alleged implants have been analysed for functionality--they have a habbit of disappearing soon after they're removed (or evicted) from their host. Doctors and coroners have pulled implants from people and sent them off to a lab for analysis only to find that they've either been "lost" or disappeared or appear to be composed of mundane elements such as those found in the human body itself. Several of these objects have allegedly self destructed in the labs after testing began.

Conservative Pissing Match At The White House?

The collective shrieking of the conservative base against President Bush rose in volume yesterday as Republicans attacked the White House over the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. According to the Washington Post, there were some very angry closed door meetings at The White House yesterday. Click here for the Washington Post story this morning...

The day after the press conference in which The President asked the voters to trust him, "a succession of prominent conservative leaders told his representatives that they did not. " These guys not only find her resume thin, and her politics uncertain--they feel betrayed, and seem to feel sure we have another Justice Souter in the making.

The party faithful are now taking potshots at the king. It has come to that. . . Is this the end of the line, is POTUS now officially and irrevocably a lame duck? Are those banshees I hear howling in the distance??

Conelrad Missing Persons Notification

<--Click images to enlarge-->

These are the cards distributed by the Civil Defense agency for use following a nuclear attack. We recently found out that we couldn't manage even the basics following a hurricane and flood. . .which leads you to wonder how we could handle something of far greater devastation. . .

President Truman established CONELRAD [CONtrol of ELectronic RADiation] in 1951 to provide emergency alerts to the public. In the event of a Soviet attack on the United States, all commercial radio stations would cease operation, in order to prevent Soviet bombers from homing in on their targets by using specific radio commercial radio stations as navigation beacons. CONELRAD stations would broadcast on either 604kHz or 1240kHz to inform the public about emergency measures.

As part of the system, all radios sold after 1953 had the the Conelrad frequencies marked with triangles. This requirement was dropped, when the CONELRAD system was replaced by the Emergency Broadcast System in 1963. By the early 1960's, advances in Soviet missiles made the CONELRAD system obsolete. In short, Conelrad could not warn us in time.

Spies In The White House::::More Trouble For The President?

This story is still breaking. I could well be wrong, but it seems like just the right kindling for a political firestorn. The FBI and CIA admit this as what amounts to the first case of spying in the White House in modern history.

Leandro Aragoncillo, the purported spy, worked at the White House for three years, most recently on Vice President Dick Cheney's staff. He apparently worked for Al Gore for s time, as well. Investigators say Aragoncillo, a naturalized citizen from the Philippines, used his top secret clearance to steal classified intelligence documents from White House computers.

The story seems to have some legs and legitimacy...it's coming from ABC News. Maybe this news will fade away. However, with the White House's plummeting polling numbers, a general sense of bumbling, Hurricane Katrina fallout, war problems, and fuel cost issues, not to mention churning over Harriet Miers's nomination as Associate Justice, this news seems more likely to grow in importance than just fade away. . .

The New York Times has the story buried on page 30 this morning. Last night, The Drudge Report had it as the headline; this morning. . .nary a mention. It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.

Poem: The Dream

1.
There is no verisimilitude
No character development
Or contrapuntal plotting
Only shadowy acts and intentions

2.
What the wind whispers
The taste of metal in my mouth
The riptide around Cold Island

3.
I look for money
I need the coins of the realm
And hide as many
As fast as I can

4.
This goat's entrails
Are ready for the turkey buzzards
The sacrifice is off

5.
In the murk of the dream
I want just one thing from life--
Seconds.

6.
I hear footsteps
In unison

125,000 Killed In Buffalo Nuclear Attack?

Click the newspaper to enlarge...

In 1956, the editors and Civil Defense authorities cooked up a special edition of the Buffalo evening paper to graphically demonstrate the impact of a direct hit on this upstate New York city.

"The News is to be commended for this further expression of leadership in publishing a special edition in conjunction of with 'Operation Alert,'" said Maj. Edwin G. Zeigler, director of the Erie County Civil Defense program.

In Case Of Nuclear Attack, Tune To 640 or 1240 On Your AM Radio Dial!

click image to enlarge

When I was a kid, a message often appeared on the radio and television, along with the all too familiar Conelrad logo. The message was "In the event of a nuclear attack, you will be instructed by your local authorities to tune to 640 or 1240 on your AM radio dial."

Reactions To The Harriet Miers Nomination

"This is a pick that was made from weakness. There was an opportunity here to show strength and confidence, and I don't think this is it." Rush Limbaugh

"The President's nomination of Miers is a betrayal of the conservative, pro-family voters whose support put Bush in the White House..." Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio

"President Bush showed exceptional judgment in naming Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court to replace Justice O’Connor." Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ

"In a decision deeply disheartening to those who invested such hopes in him, Bush may have tossed away his and our last chance to roll back the social revolution imposed upon us by our judicial dictatorship since the days of Earl Warren." Patrick Buchanan

"I like Harriet Miers." Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid

"It could have been a lot worse." Sen. Charles Schumer, New York Democrat

"If he wants to give her judicial experience why doesn't he nominate her to the Fifth Circuit (Court of Appeals)?" John Eastman, Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence
