Get tough. get mad, supporters tell Obama
According to an Associated Press story today, "Worried Democrats want Barack Obama to get tougher, show more passion. Why is he so calm, supporters ask, so close to an election that looks so tight.
"Just keep steady," Obama tells the nervous Nellies. "I'm skinny but I'm tough. I'm from Chicago."
"Obama hears the concern, from senior Democrats and big-money contributors, from columnists and supporters along the rope lines at campaign events. He heard it again as he stood in an hour-long receiving line in Hollywood to pose for pictures with donors who paid $28,500 to be with him Tuesday night." The full story can be found here.

It's funny, this is the same panic that started in August of 07 and grew louder until he "sharpened his contrasts" with Hillary in November.
I actually think he's getting plenty tough and he will grow fiercer during these last 7 weeks. McWhinin'/Palyin' are on the defensive and the only way they get back on offense will be through a new series of whoppers. Obama's already called him out on that and the media is starting to follow. The shift in polling is quite striking, especially her unfavorables. If Obama finds a way to question McMine's recent honor, integrity, and service to his country during the debates the old guy may go off like Lou Pinella. "I knew JMc, JMc was a friend of mine, you, sir, are no JMc."
Yesterday had to warm your heart. Obama undercut McGimmick's cleanup message even as he got to emphasize that McGeezer is really really OLD.
Obama has queued up his repsonses to the looming credit crisis like a chess player and McGramm is looking like a deregulatin' tool. The media finally seems to be questioning Palin's character and record. That can't be good for these two.
It's not in the bag but remember OBAMA IS NOT KERRY, GORE, or DUKAKIS, and I think he's savvier than Clinton though Bill could certainly out bubba chum him.
Oh, and if any side by side comparisons are made of the spouses this thing could get embarrassing. Only a republican could love the snowmobilin' GED dude and somnabulent dope fiend over the PhD Educator 2nd Wife/Mother and the Lawyer pulled up by her bootstraps Doting Mom.
If he wins, I predict that he will, with great deliberation, take down the myth of RR, brick by fucking brick. Let's GOTV.
Well, I--perhaps legitimately--have been nervous about Obama's ability to close the deal. As you know, over the last year and a half I have been extremely nervous about his ability to move toward the center. . .and like it or not, that's what it takes to seal the deal. And I am worried now that he has like 48 days to do that.
The polls finally swung back our way today--almost shocking, in light of the Palin bump, and the unrelenting surge of negative ads from the Obama camp.
The economy may be the savior right now of this race. As we have all watched tens of thousands of our hard-earned dollars evaporate, there is no one to blame but the Republicans.
McCain is in a hard spot now. He is the admitted de-regulator. Obama must hijack this election and milk this for all it's worth.
And, what a wonderful thought, Kev, about Obama becoming even more beloved than RR. I think it's possible; I hope it's true.
God knows what happens in these next forty-some days, but it is proving to be a great ride. I just want to be in the winning car this time.
