Can you pass the test given to Bullitt County Kentucky 8th graders in 1912?
By Pablo Fanque, National Affairs Ed.
This is a test given to Bullitt County, Kentucky eighth graders in 1912. A copy was recently donated to the Bullitt County Historical Museum. A lot has changed in the intervening century. No one know what a passing score was. Apparently the test was partly to help determine scholarships to high schools.

Poem: The Earth Is In Motion
By Jack Brummet
Of heaven and earth,
Striving ever upward
And simultaneously tumbling down,
Like the five volcanoes
That
surround me.

The mountain is the youngest child
Of heaven and earth,
Striving ever upward
And simultaneously tumbling down,
Like the five volcanoes
That
surround me.---o0o---

A caricature of Betty Jones Brummet
By Jack Brummet
My mom--Betty Jones Brummet--is turning 90 years old this week.
This image is a caricature an artist drew of her when she was on a weekend pass from The Marines during World War II (about 1944).
