Bobby Kennedy on courage in troubled times

by Jack Brummet

Bobby Kennedy, in South Africa. 1966:

“It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."
“We must recognize the full human equality of all of our people before God, before the law and in the councils of government. We must do this, not because it is economically advantageous, although it is; not because the laws of God command it, although they do; not because people in other lands wish it so. We must do it for the single and fundamental reason that it is the right thing to do."

The 24hour Mart in Twisp (a totally cool new gallery/galley/gathering place) just put this on.  We missed it by one day (although I'm not sure if I could sit through all two hours).

National Suicide Prevention Day

by Jack Brummet

Today is National Suicide Prevention Day.

Following the 2016 election, The Crisis Clinic has experienced a serious and concerning drop off of both volunteers and donations. We've confirmed with other groups that people now tend to direct much of their energy and money to political, social justice, and legal organizations. That's good, but don't forget about the great work the first responders at the crisis line perform for people living on the edge.

If you've ever thought about donating or volunteering, now is the time! If you are interested or have questions, message me, or go directly to our website: https://crisisclinic.org/

If you or someone you know needs help, call 1-800-273-8255 for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You can also text HELLO to 741-741 for free, 24-hour support from the Crisis Text Line. Outside of the U.S., please visit the International Association for Suicide Prevention for a database of resources.
