Sleepy Hollow, a/k/a Kalachi: The town whose residents fall asleep for no apparent reason
By Jack Brummet, Paranormal and Unexplained Phenomena Ed.
The documentary web site, http://rtd.rt.com/, in December released a fascinating documentary on Sleepy Hollow, or, the city of Kalachi in Kazakhstan.
"They call it Sleepy Hollow. A small village in Kazakhstan which has succumbed to a mysterious ailment – its dwellers keep falling asleep for no apparent reason. The indiscriminate illness has no cure. Episodes begin without warning, and those affected never know if they will wake up again. Some blame ghosts, others – closed uranium mines located nearby. But despite multiple attempts by medics and scientists to solve the riddle, the causes and consequences of the disease remain unknown. Now the RTD team goes to Kalachi village to undertake its own investigation."

Help Wanted: Sasquatch Hunter
By Jack Brummet,
Paranormal & Unexplained Phenomena Editor
The All Over Albany website has has alerted the Internet to a job opening on Craigslist — for a primate-lover with an open mind and a (preferably) four-wheel-drive vehicle. And, BT Dubs, s/he will tracking down Sasquatches (a/k/a Bigfoot, Yeti, Abominable Snowman).
The Craigslist post, seeks a research assistant: "Not for profit organization, located in Whitehall, NY is a high-energy, team-oriented research entity that is involved in the tracking, documenting, and study of cryptozoological creatures, with a deep interest in the study and search of bipedal primitive apes. We seek an experienced researcher with a deep understanding of cryptozoology, primatology, with a good background with scientific research and interest in great apes."
Some of the researcher's duties are to "investigate, document and interview individuals with reported Bigfoot sitings [sic]. The right person for the job must be ready for "occasional travel to remote areas of Adirondacks including spending several nights in the wilderness, checking motion cameras, collecting hair and dung samples for laboratory analysis amongst other related activities."
MSNBC recently noted that "though there is no objective scientific evidence supporting the idea that Bigfoot is real, more than a quarter of Americans believe that the woodland ape either definitely or probably exists."

Alien Lore No. 226 - The Bill Moore Area 51 Research File
By Jack Brummet, Alien Lore & Paranormal Editor
Bill Moore was one of the best known UFOlogists in the late 70s/80s. His credibility and fame came from the best seller he co-wrote, The Roswell Incident. His book was the catalyst in launching a heated up UFO movement. T.R.I. helped make Roswell a household name. Now, everyone knows about the 1947 Roswell UFO crash. The book also helped popularize the controversial and hotly debated notion of back-engineered UFOs.
Moore went on to release the famous Majestic 12 documents with Stanton Friedman and Jamie Shaandera. Moore later became involved with a shadowy spook in defense intelligence code-named Falcon. Falcon promised to deliver evidence of some of the darkest secrets in government conspiracy to cover up the presence of UFOs. in 1989, Moore in 1989 gave a speech outlining his work with Falcon and the world of counter-intelligence. An article in the Wikipedia detailed these events:
After that speech, the UFO community was outraged that he had collaborated with these domestic spies, and heaped abuse on Moore, who eventually abandoned UFO research, saying there was nothing more to be known than he had already uncovered.
While Moore was active, he collected voluminous information on Area 51. That information has now been released. You can find all the research here, on the Presidential UFO site.

"The original contact Moore later met was to be known as 'Falcon'. In exchange for information received Moore would keep tabs on sections of the UFO research community. This also included taking part in disinformation activities against Paul Bennewitz with AFOSI agent Richard C. Doty, as Moore would later admit at the 1989 Las Vegas MUFON conference. Throughout the 80s the group of intelligence contacts grew in number, each given a bird name - hence they became known as 'The Aviary'."

a bigfoot encounter
By Jack Brummet, Paranormal Editor

In North America (hey! including the brothers and sisters in Canada) there are myriad stories of Bigfoot kidnappings and sex with native women. Here's one story from a book written by Dr. Ed Fusch: "Seweneytl And The Stick Indians Of The Colville". The book contains dozens of accounts of Native American interactions with "large bipedal hominids". To us, this story about a Colville Indian bride stood out the most as it was summarized in Monster DNA and Ancestory by Ray Crowe:
Credit: www.colvilletribes.com
"Perhaps the most famous is the one in a rare book of Dr. Ed Fusch, “Seweneytl And The Stick Indians Of The Colville.” He tells of the Lake Band of the Colville Indians. They had a fishing camp in the late 1890’s near Keller, Washington, on the San Poil River."
"The recent pretty bride had gone for water when the camp heard the Indian maiden scream. The men thought a bear might be threatening or attacking the bride and rushed to her aid and they could only stand and watch in awe as the bride disappeared in the distance in the arms of a Skanicum (local Bigfoot name)."
"The remainder of the summer the men hunted for the lost bride searching every nook and cranny, but without luck. Finally at the end of summer they found her while she was gathering roots as the Skanicum slept. She was pregnant from the seed of the monster that had forced her to satisfy his desires. Months later she bore a half-monster child – a son. She named him Patrick. And Patrick survived and grew up to become a member of the tribe."
"Patrick was ugly. A tiny troll of a sub-human hybrid. He was hump-backed and only 5’4” tall with arms that hung down to his knees. There was a sloped forehead, a large mouth, and a large lower jaw with protruding teeth. He grew up, being considered quite bright and affluent; enough that he found a wife and lived a successful married life. He reached the ripe old age of 30, and was buried on the Colville Reservation."
"Patrick had a full family life, siring three daughters and two sons that died early. The girls were Mary Louise, Madeline, and Stella, who also died early. Mary Louise lived near Omak and it was said that her paternal grandfather was a Skanicum, although she was relatively normal in appearance; although both girls were said to have protruding teeth, wide mouths, and were squint eyed."
"Madeline lived near the Washington coast, and was said to be incredibly ugly. An alcoholic, she spent much of her time in taverns. Dr. Fusch is, last I heard, was unsuccessful in trying to track her down to get a DNA sample which might have been illuminating."

The Spokane River Bigfoot
By Jack Brummet
Bigfoot-Yeti-Sasquatch Editor
A YouTube user--Samantha13950 --says she and some friends encountered a Sasquatch while hiking along the Spokane River.
"While hiking, we accidentally caught an image of Bigfoot walking through the woods. I didn't even notice until I got home and saw it on the computer! This scarred the crap out of us! Video uploaded by samantha13950 on May 23, 2011."
Some Bigfoot investigators and aficionados are skeptical of this one, for the usual reasons. And, they say, there doesn't appear to be a large enough area to sustain a Bigfoot habitat near this sighting. It's interesting--they have theories of the breadth of its range...although no one has actually examined one or studied them as a group (depending on whose stories you believe).

Alien Lore No. 194 - The first UFO visit, and the first UFO crash 114 years ago?
By Jack Brummet, Paranormal and Alien Lore Editor
This incident is often considered to be the first documented sighting of a UFO, although generally UFOlogists skip ahead to the Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting near Mount Rainier half a century later. . .
In 1897 a cigar shaped object--they weren't known as "flying saucers" until 1947--was reported by numerous Americans as it traveled from San Francisco to Chicago. Hundreds of people lined Lake Michigan in wait for it's appearance. Earlier that same year, newspapers reported that a spacecraft crashed into a Judge J.F. Proctor's windmill and then exploded. They found the body of a tiny pilot, described as "not of this world." A journal found in the space vehicle contained writing in an unknown language. Sweetly, the townspeople arranged for the burial of the tiny pilot.
In 1973, a Dallas Times Herald reporter, Bill Case, digging around the crash site found a number of metal fragments. He brought the shards to Dr. Tom Gray, a North Texas University physicist, who said at least some of the strange pieces of metal could not be identified.
The reporter compared metal detector readings from the crash site to those at the grave of the space pilot. The unusual signals were identical. This first "documented" UFO crash is still a mystery.
Curiously, around the same time, Marie Harris, in Garland, Texas, found a strange thing growing in her backyard that was "as big as a platter, foamy and creamy, and pale yellow" and "pulsated like a beating heart." When Mrs. Harris chopped on it, its "blood" was a red and purple goo. A biologist from the University of Texas called it a fungus. Finally, sunlight seemed to kill it.

Alien Lore No. 179 - UFOs over Seattle this summer
This summer, there seem to have been numerous UFOs visiting the City of Seattle. The following were all reported by The National UFO Reporting Center (which coincidentally is located in Seattle, although soon relocating to an abandoned ICBM missile base in Eastern Washington). [click all images to enlarge]
Report 1: July 2010. "This is the most awe-inspiring moment of my life and I was somewhat sad to see them leave. I really felt like I had seen something extraordinary.
"Looking in the sky to the west to slight northwest on Saturday night at 23:15, I saw about 30 orb-type lights or balls in the sky at about 90 degrees in a pattern that gave off a glow in the night sky.
"The glow was orange and red, but the formation gave off a red orange and a little twinkling, gold color. We watched it for about 6 minutes, then it seemed as half of the formation disappeared, not all at once, but within a second or two.
"Then the other part of the formation left or became invisible, leaving behind two balls that seemed larger or closer. These two orbs remained stationary for about 5 seconds before one of the two took off straight up.
"Then about 7 seconds after the first of the remaining two orbs left, the last one left or followed the rest into the night sky.
"The formation of the UFOs took up a large portion of the sky and seemed massive." Source: http://www.nuforc.org/
Report 2: 07-17-10, City of Seattle - "The formation/armada was huge. I was looking at stars with my dad over Puget Sound when I looked west and saw 28-30 reddish, orange orbs stationary in the sky.
"These were not florescent lights like we use on earth, it was more like a different type of light, an energy ball that had a golden tint around the formation of UFOs.
"I felt that there was a tremendous amount of radiant energy coming off of the sun-like orbs. The armada/formation of UFOs was only here for approximately 10 minutes before they vanished into thin air, like smoke." Source: www.nuforc.org
Report 3: 7-17-10, City of Seattle - "At approximately 23:28 PM, PST, in Seattle, Washington, my wife and I received a phone call from her parents (who live 1 block away), about some interesting lights in the sky over Beacon Hill (also in Seattle).
"We were told to immediately come outside and look towards the sky (due west) and see them for ourselves.
"We then saw 25+ orange-lighted objects which appeared to blink in and out as they dimmed in the upper atmosphere. They all appeared to be moving in the same direction (towards the northeast) and all seemed to stem from the same location.
"They were only visible for about 3-5 minutes. Three airplanes were seen in the sky as well (heading to SeaTac Airport to land).
"We took video on our camera, but only a couple of the objects were barely visible through the street lights. You could see the airplane clearly. Unless something is reported on our local news media stations, we are assuming that these were indeed UFOs, and a lot of them.
"We also called the local news stations to report the incident, and they informed us that they had not received any other calls about it, but would look into it." Source: www.nuforc.org
Report 4: 7-17-10 - "My daughter and I were outside, and this object went above us heading straight due north. It was a light, silver-colored disc with a bottom that was about half the size of the craft.
"The half-round bottom looked as though it may have been translucent, its color was grayish and slightly opalescent.
"When the craft passed over what was probably SeaTac Airport, it became very, very bright and looked like a star. But only roughly 6-7 seconds later, it dimmed again and we could still see its disc/orb outline.
"We watched it as far as our eyes would allow. My daughter mentioned the uncanny lack of air traffic as this object moved over the airport area.
"About two minutes after we could no longer see it, we saw a plane come from the airport area. We did not observe the object come from the South - it seemed to just appear in the sky out of nowhere. It was east of us when looking north." Source: www.nuforc.org

alien Lore No. 169 - Fireball, or a Grey flyby in the Midwest?
By Jack Brummet
Paranormal and unexplained phenomena editor
[ed's note: Thanks to Jeff Clinton for the tip]
911 switchboards lit up recently in several Midwest states with reports of a gigantic UFO, or fireball streaking across and lighting up the sky, the National Weather Service said. The National Weather Service also got hundreds of calls about the object, as well as reports of sonic booms.
The object was in sight for nearly 15 minutes at around 10 PM. about 10 p.m., "The fireball was seen over the northern sky, moving from west to east," said the weather service in the Quad Cities area, which encompasses parts of Iowa and Illinois. A CNN video of the UFO/fireball has been made available:
According to NASA, a meteor appears when a meteoroid -- a particle, a stone, or even a piece of Russian or American space junk enters our atmosphere from outer space [ed's note: outer space is generally considered to begin about 60 miles from earth, or roughly an hour's drive...if your car could go straight up].
"Air friction heats the meteoroid so that it glows and creates a shining trail of gases and melted meteoroid particles," it said. "People sometimes call the brightest meteors fireballs."
The fireball/UFO was seen across parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana Wisconsin, and possibly Ohio as well.
A video from WISN TV shows a huge ball of light streaking across the sky. Doppler Radar shows a smoke trail from the fireball at just after 10 p.m. It was unknown if any part of a meteorite [UFO/failed satellite/cosmic hiccup/whatever it was] hit the ground.

Alien Lore No. 168 - New UFO file releases from Britain
As you may or may not know, Russia, France, and Great Britain have released much of their previously secret government files on UFO/alien-Grey sightings and investigations. Partly, this is due to pressure to open up what The People rightfully own, similar to the literally millions of documents released under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. Partly, I believe, they release these records to quell the growing sabre-rattling of the conspiracy theorists (both fringe and mainstream), and partly because they believe--probably rightly--that releasing the ravings of deranged saucer-freaks and conspiracy and cover-up wacks will speak for itself.
The Brits recently released their fifth batch of records about unidentified flying objects. The Ministry of Defence and The National Archives have released the files as part of a project to open the files up to a broader audience.
This release is the largest so far, with more than 6,000 pages of material from 1994 to 2000.
The files include:
- A sighting by a man in Birmingham, England, in March 1997. He said he came home from work at 4 a.m. to see a large blue triangle-shaped craft hovering over his back garden. It "shot off and disappeared" after about three minutes, the report said, leaving behind a "silky-white substance" on the treetops, some of which he saved in a jar. The documents did not say what happened to the jar and its contents.
- One report, from January 1997, details a man driving home through south Wales one night when he saw "a 'tube of light' coming down from the sky," which at first seemed like a "massive star" coming toward him. The man's mobile phone and car radio failed (classic symptoms!), and the man got out of his car and was able to walk through the light. When he re-entered his car he started feeling sick, and later developed a skin condition.
- Another report talks about a group of people, in August 1997, who saw, from their fishing trawler in the North Sea, a round, flat, shiny object hover in the sky. The witnesses saw it both with the naked eye and through binoculars. The witnesses, the report says, were "very skeptical of UFOs." They followed the UFO on radar for several seconds before it completely vanished, the report said.
- Cops in Boston, England, and Skegness, on England's east coast, witnessed a UFO on video at the same time that the Royal Air Force (RAF) detected an "unidentified blip" on their radar. In the 1966 sighting, officers saw "strange rotating red, blue, green and white flashing lights in the sky," the report said. Another ship in a bay near Boston, also saw the lights, at the same time the RAF air defense radars picked up the blip. Press coverage of the incident led the RAF to look into the lights, which they identified as stars and bright planets. The radar blip, authorities said, were due to a "permanent echo" created by a nearby church spire.
- The release also contains several incidents involving UFOs and aircraft, like the near-miss that happened in January 1995 when a British Airways Boeing 737 was approaching Manchester airport. The captain and a crew member saw the object, but an investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority failed to identify it, the report said. It never happened! Really?
According to the CNN report, "The release highlights how the reported shapes of UFOs have changed during the past half-century, the National Archives said. Many of the reports in the latest file describe UFOs as big, black and triangular, whereas reports from the 1940s and '50s tended to be about saucers or disc-shaped objects."
"In the 1950s the next big leap in technology was thought to be a round craft that took off vertically, and it's intriguing to note that this is the same period when people began to report seeing 'flying saucers' in the sky," said David Clarke, author of a book called The UFO Files.

Alien Lore No. 164 - An interstellar portal opens up over Norway: The Greys crave Lutefisk
Thanks to Jeff Clinton for pointing out this story on altaposten.no. The quotes are [shaky] Google translations of the Norwegian web pages.
Spectacular phenomenon in
the skies over northern Norway
"In the morning rush hour, at 07.47, showed the special phenomenon in the sky. Thousands of people across northern Norway has been joined by the phenomenon, and the phone lines to both Altaposten, most other northern Norwegian media, and also the capital of the newspapers have glowed."
"The phenomenon described as a glowing ball in the sky, which rotated and "thrown out" luminous rings. The phenomenon grew rapidly in a spiral, with bright white rings towards the edges and blue, bright rings in the center. Helio was growing, until it eventually was significantly greater than both the moon and other things it will be normal to find in the sky. "Spiral" also walked across the sky, leaving a bright blue track."

The whole thing lasted just under one minute and then the spiral in the sky appeared to collapse, leaving a dark, circular "hole" in the night sky.
"It was a very special sight, a kind of white spiral, giant, who lit up the sky. Eventually, it was a big, black ring with a bright green (aurora colored) tail behind him. In the end, only the tail again, and it could be seen in the sky about 10 minutes afterwards as well, writes Liv Reidun Tverelv in an e-mail to Altaposten. "

Of course, as happens with every paranormal story, there are debunkers and "rational" explanations, e.g., spoilsports. One came from CBS news, claiming the portal was merely a missile gone awry:
"According to CBS News and other media, the Russian authorities confirmed on Thursday that it was a Bulava missile, which failed and ended his days in the spin far up the atmosphere Wednesday morning. Seven of the 12 test launches of the "Bulava" missile has been unsuccessful, according to the Russian Defense Ministry."
A reader, Anders, offered up a more scientific explanation:
"Posted by Anders Olav Bjørkavåg 09/12/2009 18:54:13
"This fun lysfenomenet NOK has an electrical origin. Discharges in plasma organizes itself as "Birkeland Cables" and can therefore lead the electric charge over large distances. These are configured as coils of cables - "tornado shape" if you will. At low power, these are invisible. Increases energy intensity, it begins to glow as the fluorescent and the Northern Lights. With increasing intensity, these self-organized wires push themselves further along in what is called z-pinch effect. This causes a further konsentrereing of electrical energy and a get-glowing plasma arc (as in lightning and sparks). They organize themselves again often in special formations where some typeiske varieties are precisely the spiral shape (Galaxy Form) and ring structure (such as some planetary nebula).
"The reason that meterologer and astronomers do not recognize this right away is that they are not trained in plasma physics. Plasma Physicists will recognize phenomena from plasma (electricity) experiments in the labs and in the simulations."

Alien Lore No. 162 - UFO sighting in California, September, 2009
As is often the case, Jeff Clinton sent along this excellent and meticulously enhanced video of a recent alleged UFO sighting in California.
They didn't make the YouTube video "embeddable," so you'll have to jump here to view it.

Gollum terrorizes Panama town?
According to the Panamanian news service Telemetro, locals in a Panama town are scared sh**less after a creature they describe as "Gollum" crawled out of a lake and charged at schoolchildren. "The four terrified boys said they hurled rocks at the strange creature to kill it, before throwing its corpse in the water and running away." Actually, they don't sound THAT scared, do they? One of the boys said the five-foot creature emerged from a cave and started scrambling over rocks "as if to attack them".
In a "desperate bid to defend themselves" the four boys hurled rocks at the strange creature to kill it and then threw the body in the water before running away. Their parents returned to the lake the following day — where they discovered the disturbing body washed up on the beach.
Panamanian officials have yet to make any statements regarding their discovery. Quite possibly, their silence is due to the fact that Panama Red is back in town.
Thanks to Jeff Clinton for suggesting this article.

Alien Lore No.152 - Astronaut Edgar Mitchell speaks up once again
Edgar Mitchell - "Cosmic Activist"
Once again, former Astronaut Edgar Mitchell this week reaffirmed his longstanding claim that there "is no doubt we are being visited."
Mitchell, who few on the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, said early this week that extraterrestrial life exists, and the truth is being concealed by the U.S. and foreign governments.
Mitchell spoke at the National Press Club following the X-Conference, a meeting of UFO activists and researchers studying the possibility of alien life forms.
Mankind wonders if we're "alone in the universe. [But] only in our period do we really have evidence. No, we're not alone," Mitchell said.
"Our destiny, in my opinion, and we might as well get started with it, is [to] become a part of the planetary community. ... We should be ready to reach out beyond our planet and beyond our solar system to find out what is really going on out there."Mitchell, believe it or not, grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, which many UFO believers say is the site of a UFO crash (and along with the Mount Rainier sightings around the same time are the events that really triggered this while alien lore story. Mitchell says that people in his hometown "had been hushed and told not to talk about their experience by military authorities."
The resident of Roswell, Mitchell says, "didn't want to go to the grave with their story. They wanted to tell somebody reliable. And being a local boy and having been to the moon, they considered me reliable enough to whisper in my ear their particular story."
Ten years ago, an admiral working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff promised to uncover the truth behind the Roswell story, Mitchell said. The stories of a UFO crash "were confirmed," but the admiral was then denied access when he "tried to get into the inner workings of that process." The admiral now denies the story.
"Those who are doubtful: Read the books, read the lore, start to understand what has really been going on. Because there really is no doubt we are being visited," he said. "The universe that we live in is much more wondrous, exciting, complex and far-reaching than we were ever able to know up to this point in time."
A NASA spokesman, Michael Cabbage, denied the cover-up. "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover-up about alien life on this planet or anywhere else -- period."
"There is a third rail [in American politics, and that is the UFO question. It is many magnitudes more radioactive than Social Security ever dreamed to be," said Paradigm Research Group head Stepgen Basset.

Alien Lore No. 148 - UFOs over San Diego
Thousands of San Diegans reported seeing UFOs--not one. . .a fleet. . .nine to be exact--just after midnight on January 1st, 2009.
The sighting was reported on numerous websites and blogs, and in the old media a/k/a TV-radio-newspapers. See below for a pretty decent YouTube video of the UFO formation. Our favorite comments from godlikeproductions.com website:

- This Is Real.
- good post, we will be seeing more and more of these type of things. getting people ready for disclosure
- priming us already
- Things are gonna get pretty f****n 'weird from here on.

Alien Lore No. 141 - The psychic Sasquatch and their connection with The Greys
An interesting book just came to my attention via Jeff Clinton (the book is nearly ten years old): The Psychic Sasquatch: And Their UFO Connection by Jack Lapseritis.
Lapseritis contends that Bigfoot are "psychic and multidimensional," able to slip in and out of an unseen dimension, thus explaining how hard they are to pin down, shoot, capture, or photograph. Evidence is presented from first-hand accounts that Bigfoot works as a some sort of foot solder on earth, working with Extraterrestrials, as guards and scouts. The author is a UFOlogist and field investigator/scientist who has studied this issue for many years.
"In 1979, Mr. Lapseritis was first telepathically contacted by a Sasquatch and ET simultaneously, which was the shock of his life. To further complicate matters, the contact changed him and he developed psychic ability overnight, which triggered a spiritual transformation. At the time, he was Assistant Director of an urban Indian agency, worked as a hypno-therapist and had been lecturing at the Medical College of Wisconsin and was ill-prepared for such a happening. "

Alien Lore No. 139 - Tomorrow the Greys reveal themselves
Thanks, as always to Jeff Clinton for finding this nugget on the internets.
The Psychic, Blossom Goodchild, says she has received a channeled transmission from the Galactic Federation of Light.
The Federation will reveal themselves tomorrow, October 14th, 2008, by revealing their 2000 mile wide vessel. The spaceship will remain visible for 3 earth days.
The good news, according to Blossom, is they come in peace and love. . .like our old pal Klaatu from The Day The Earth Stood Still. Check our Blossom's message in the YouTube video, above.
Let All This Is That know if you see the vessel tomorrow!

Alien Lore No. 128 - The Vatican Says Aliens Are God's Children Too
According to an Associated Press article yesterday, datelined from The Vatican, "The Vatican's chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God."
The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory, says the vastness of the universe means it is possible there may be other forms of life outside Earth--even intelligent ones.
In an interview published Tuesday by Vatican's L'Osservatore Romano, Funes says that such a notion "doesn't contradict our faith" because aliens would still be God's creatures.
The astronomer said that ruling out the possibility of aliens would be like "putting limits" on God's creative freedom.
