Gordon Smith of Oregon, Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina and Susan Collins of Maine,...every one facing major challenges to their re-election), is none other than Senator Larry Craig. He'll be busy working on an appeal that could allow him to change his guilty plea on bathroom cruising and footplay charges. Marijuana definitely beats the profit margin on Girl Scout Cookies

The police have have found thousands of marijuana plants at a Girl Scout camp in Indiana (Camp Ella J. Logan), according to CBS News. At Camp Brinkley and Camp Omache, in Boy Scouts, all that ever semed to grow were nettles.

5,000 plants were growing at Camp Ella J. Logan. State troopers spotted them from an airplane.

Girls Scout officials were "dismayed" to learn of this, according to Sherri Weidman, chief executive of the Limberlost Girl Scout Council.

John McCain told Dick Cheney he would have liked to pick him as his Vice-President, if only he had won. Well, Senator, there's still time, and you have the opportunity in the next couple of weeks.

The best part, Senator McCain: he's already been well-investigated, and he is eligible to run for Vice President once again. And, unlike, you he WAS born in the United States.

I am posting this (and, yeah, I know it's sort of a repeat)...well, just because. The way blogs work--or at least my rudimentary understanding of how I think they work--is you have to post something to have it appear uniquely on the internet and be able to reference it. So, I am posting a list of my Growing Up stories, or at least the ones I can still track down, to link to in my sidebar like I do with the poems. I even take stabs at writing a book about growing up hillbilly. I have at least five new ones in long-time germination (Dad; The Kent Bus Depot; The Hook Arm, the Wooden Leg, False teeth, and Girdles - My people; Growing Up Hillbilly (they stopped here because you'd need a boat to go further); The Liquor Store, The Butcher, and The Barber).

These are, so far, stories of things that I saw or that happened to me, mostly in the 1950's and 60's, but with some gems from the 70's, 80's, and 90's as well.

Steppenwolf's version of Hoyt Axton's The Pusher (with lyrics)

Easy Rider (1969) is the first movie I saw where Rock and Roll was an integral part of the movie. Yeah, there were some others...five years earlier, A Hard Day's Night was an unbelievable music movie. But this was something else. It was an actual movie, with real actors...including Jack Nicholson's over the top cameo. The songs were edgy, and on the cutting edge, including this great tune by Steppenwolf...the highest fidelity version I could locate is this one, with a "psychedelic" fan video. The Pusher blew our young minds when we heard it. It was written by the late great Hoyt Axton...
