George W. Bush set to release 98 new paintings of wounded veterans of (his) war
by Jack Brummet, National Affairs Ed.
On Veterans Day, George W. Bush posted a photo of himself painting a portrait of a wounded veteran who served the U.S. during his time in office.
The former President wrote:
"Over the past several months, I’ve painted the portraits of 98 wounded warriors I’ve gotten to know – remarkable men and women who were injured carrying out my orders. I think about them on #VeteransDay and every day. Their paintings and stories will be featured in PORTRAITS OF COURAGE – a book and special exhibit – next spring, and I am donating all my proceeds to @thebushcenter and our Military Service Initiative’s work to honor and support them."

Two sounds: The Love Frequency and The Brown Note
By Jack Brummet
The Love Frequency - You can buy an instrument to create this noise; the Lovertuner mindfulness tone necklace. "Lovetuner is the term for a tiny single-tone flute, through which we can align ourselves with the 528 HZ frequency - the so called Love Frequency." It makes you happy. You can find the sound online. It's a nice sound, but I didn't achieve bliss listening to it. Maybe it takes Pavlovian training? $58 retail.
The Brown Note - The brown note is a hypothetical infrasonic frequency that causes humans to lose control of their bowels due to resonance. Attempts to demonstrate the existence of a brown note using sound waves transmitted through the air all have failed (notably on Mythbusters). It is supposed to be somewhere in the range of 2Hz to 15Hz.
In South Park's season 3 episode 17 *"World Wide Recorder Concert") , the brown note is a central plot point. The boys rewrite the music for Yoko Ono and Kenny G's worldwide recorder concert to include the brown note. Naturally, they succeed at the concert, and with the international television audience as millions of people around the world instantly involuntarily evacuate.

Poem: Keeping on
By Jack Brummet
You gather your friends
Around you
Like a shock of wheat,
Like a bulwark
Or a last ditch bivouac
In the cold rain and snow.

Reconciling the 2016 Presidential Election
By Jack Brummet, National Affairs Ed.
A lot of people are posting and tweeting angry messages about Donald Trump voters. And, yes, some of those voters are bad people. But people have been wanting and needing change.
A lot of people voted not for DJT, but for something—anything—different. And they took something different—bleeding, gangrenous warts and all. That's how desperate and disenfranchised they were. We accomplish nothing by hating them. More than ever it's time to focus on caring for ourselves and the many people around the world who depend on us. We need to push to be better and tap into that vast reservoir of love in this whole world.

[50 million new voters have registered since the 2008 election]
by Jack Brummet
50 million new voters have registered since the 2008 election
In a study earlier this year, the Pew Research Center said this election will be the “most racially and ethnically diverse ever,” with 31 percent of the vote coming from minorities.
In 2008, just shy of 132 million people voted. No one is really sure how many of those other 68 million registrants will vote, but we know this will be the biggest turnout ever.
25 million votes have been cast.
The dice have left the cup, and, even now, are rolling across the table.
